My parents just moved into a new house and my mother (who is a bit skeptical about the existence of ghosts) claims there is a ghost in the house. She said that she woke up suddenly one of the first nights they were there and a shadowy figure of a man was standing at the end of her bed. While it startled her, she could tell it wasn’t trying to scare her or make her get leave, so she just said hello and it disappeared. How she was able to fall back asleep, I don’t know. The next day she was putting groceries into the refrigerator when something (or someone) flicked the back of her hair. She whipped around and nothing was there. At first she thought the vent right above her was on…but it wasn’t. She hasn’t had any encounters since, but I’m supposed to be sleeping over soon and I have to say, I don’t really want to see some ghostly old man at the end of my bed.
I’ve never actually seen a full-bodied apparition. I’ve felt things like cold spots and something touching me and I’ve seen things out of the corner of my eye but I’ll be honest…I’d probably scream like a little girl if I saw an actual ghost. Not that that stops me from watching television shows and reading books about ghosthunting like The Everything Ghost Hunting Book.
So maybe before I stay over I’ll invest in a tape recorder for EVPs and EMF detector or just rely on my intuition. I’ll let you know what happens. I’m sure I’ll sleep with one eye open.
P.S. Oh, and in case you haven’t heard…Ghostbuster 3 is in the works!
